GREEN GHANA DAY IN TARKWA-NSUAEM MUNICIPALITY

The 2024 Green Ghana Day was celebrated at Wassa Agona Methodist Junior High School on Friday 7th June, 2024 under the theme “Growing For A Greener Tomorrow”.

The event brought together the Municipal Chief Executive, Presiding Member, Agric Officer and Acting Coordinating Director, Forestry Management (Tarkwa District), Heads of Departments, assembly staff, media representatives, and students.

Eric Asare,the  Forestry Manager (Tarkwa District), announced that Ghana has planted 42 million trees since 2021, with a target of 10 million more this year. Notably, Tarkwa-Nsuaem has contributed 500,000 trees to the national effort, with 78% of the total trees planted nationwide having matured.

Hon. Benjamin Kessie, Municipal Chief Executive highlighted the significance and benefits of trees in the environment, urging Ghanaians, especially residents of the municipality, to embrace tree planting and conservation.
