The statistics Department is established at Municipal Assembly as per Second Schedule of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
Data is key in the policy formulation and planning of every institution in the country. Leveraging on that, the Statistics Department has made it its sole responsibility to collect, collate, publish and disseminate data relevant to the Assembly.

The Statistics Department aspire to become reliable data repository within the Municipality in providing timely, quality and accurate data for making informed decision by the user and foster local level governance and development.

Responsibilities of the Department
- Collect, compile, store and analyze data for evidence-based decision making
- Distribute requisition letters to institutions for administrative data
- Disseminate and publish statistical data after analyzation based on guidelines outlined by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS)
- Prepare and submit annual reports for its operations in the Municipality
- Assist in data provision for the preparation of the Assembly’s budget
- Engage in monitoring and evaluation for revenue generation in the Assembly
