This year’s Green Ghana Day in the Western Region has been commemorated in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality on Friday 9th June 2023, at the Municipal Hospital.
Hon. George Mireku Duker, MP for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency and the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Benjamin Kessie, MCE for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, Paramount Chief and president of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Council and also Board Chairman for Forestry Commission, Hon. Emmanuel Gado, Presiding Member, ACP George A. Kumah and other dignitaries were led by Mr. Vincent Appiah, District Manager Tarkwa Forest Services Division to plant over Twenty-Five Thousand (25000) seedlings this year.
Talking about the importance of Green Ghana, Mr. Vincent Appiah said it has eased some workloads off them since it was first launched in 2021.
Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II advised the people of Tarkwa to plant and take good care of the trees.
Hon. Benjamin Kessie also entreated the good people of the region to get involved in planting more trees to restore the lost ones for a better Ghana.
Hon. Mireku Duker said over Thirty Million (30,000,
000) seedlings have been planted across the country since the introduction of the Green Ghana policy.
He called on all legal miners, Nananom, and other stakeholders to stand against any form of illegal activities in their communities in other to protect the environment.
