As part of the processes to improve the skills of staff within the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in promoting and implementing policies that can substantially improve social inclusion, development of the people and communities, the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal in collaboration with the Western Regional Coordinating Council organized a two-day Social Development training programmed for Social Development Officers at the Assembly Hall from 13th to 14th November, 2024.
The aim of the sills of staff within the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and also to enlighten them on all requirements regarding child adoption process and foster parenting.
The facilitators for the workshop were Mr. Jonathan Gyan Gyewu, Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Western Regional Coordinating Council, and Mr. Wisdom Koami Bakouyeya, Senior Social Development Officer Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.
Some of the expectations of participants include knowing more about child right protection, understanding the various processes and procedures for child adoption, learn more about social development and more.
It was recommended that there should be a more interactive activity to facilitate sensitization on radio and regularly visiting orphanage home so that it will help in solving individual problems of social adjustment.
The programme was successful and all participants were excited about the impact the programme would have on their work and look forward to discharge their duties.
