The Environmental Health Unit facilitates a quarterly municipal wide mass spraying exercise undertaken by Zoomlion Ghana LTD as a contract, awarded to the company. The exercise is usually carried out to avert any unexpected outbreak of diseases such as malaria, cholera, typhoid fever, dysentery and other sanitation related diseases. The exercise also sought to prevent and control the breeding of insects, vectors and pests such as mosquitoes and flies including all types of rodents.
The spraying exercise was carried out at all the various public toilets, public drains, refuse disposal sites including the communal container sites and final disposal site at Aboso. The exercise was also extended to all the Municipal Assembly Bungalows and main administration blocks. The exercise is supposed to be a routine one carried out on quarterly basis and especially when breeding of infectious agents and disease casting vectors are eminent. This exercise was also successfully undertaken.
