RADIO SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME ON ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

The radio program emphasized the need for household toilet construction to improve sanitation and general sanitation issues within the Municipality. In order to ensure monitoring the observance of environmental standards within the municipality, the Unit undertakes education on noise pollution and control, smoke nuisance and illegal mining on radio programmes. During routine premises inspection (house to house inspection) officers identified smoke nuisance issues at Kwabedu in Tarkwa. Subsequently, the Gold smelters were directed to stop the smelting activity at the said location.  Environmental health officers (field officers) included in their house to house education the need to stop reclamation of low lying areas for construction of buildings.
