PWDS RECEIVE SUPPORT FROM TNMA

Persons living with disabilities in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality have received various forms of support from the District Assembly in fulfillment of the 3% allocation of the District Assembly’s Common Fund to persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The beneficiaries received the support from three categories, ranging from economic ventures, training and school fees, as well as medical attention and device support.

In the area of economic support, some of the items were refrigerators and deep freezers, fertilizers, weedicide spraying machines, bags of rice, sugar, sewing machines and grinding machines.

Earlier this year, The Assembly presented hundreds of equipment to the beneficiaries based on their own requests and taking into consideration the type of business each beneficiary selected.

He indicated that this year’s method of disbursement is in line with the agenda of job creation, poverty alleviation and economic empowerment for persons living with disability. He commended the government for releasing all common fund allocations from the last quarter of 2016 to the 2nd quarter in 2019.

The Chairman for Social Welfare Committee, Mr. Sackey commended the MCE and his team for its commitment to the periodic support of persons with disability, and also urged the beneficiaries to manage their businesses effectively.
