Hon. Benjamin Kessie, the President’s Nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has been given a 100% endorsement by the 43 Assembly Members who were present and voted in accordance to the Local Governance Act 2016(Act 936)
The event which took place at the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly’s Conference Hall on Monday, 19th October, 2021, was attended by the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. George Mireku Duker. Traditional leaders, the Clergy, Heads of Security Agencies and other Departmental Heads were also present to grace the ceremony.
In a speech by Hon. Emmanuel Yalmon Gado, the Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly, he appealed to the Assembly Members to consider the development of the municipality as a priority and vote objectively devoid of politics to confirm the nominee. He also called for peace and unity among members of the Assembly and the good people of Tarkwa-Nsuaem. He reiterated that the confirmation will ensure a smooth administrative running of the Assembly and effective legal implementation of the various infrastructure, economic and social development projects, policies and programmes in the Municipality.
Hon. George Mireku Duker, without saying much called for unity and togetherness for a successful confirmation.
Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah commended the Assembly Members for showing maturity at the occasion and also entreated them to vote for Hon. Benjamin Kessie because of his capabilities. He also hinted that the President’s decision to nominate Hon. Kessie to be the Municipal Chief Executive for the second time was not a mistake.
Hon. Benjamin Kessie was then administered the oath of secrecy and allegiance by the Regional Minister.
Speaking again at the Ceremony, the P.M. commended Hon. Benjamin Kessie for being industrious and a unifier. He was further hopeful that he would continue the good works and facilitate the necessary processes to enable the Assembly Members obtain the required resources to achieve the developmental agenda of their electoral areas.
Nana Kwabena Gyan II, Chairman of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Divisional Chiefs proposed that instead of the name Tarkwa-Nsuaem, the Municipality should be called Wassa Fiase Central as history demands. He also encouraged the Assembly Members to work together for more infrastructure in the Municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, expressed his profound gratitude to all and sundry. He added that the Assembly has indeed proven that Tarkwa-Nsuaem is capable of doing better things for itself and promised that his gratitude would be shown in his works.
