Hon. Benjamin Kessie, Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive has on Monday, 1st May 2023 hosted a parade of workers belonging to the various unions of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) to mark this year’s May Day celebration at the Tarkwa Senior High School (TARSCO) park in the Western Region.
Some of the unions present was NAGRAT, GNAT, GRA, GRIDCO, JUSAG, TEWU, ECG, MAXAM, SIC, GCB, etc.
Some most deserving workers were awarded 43 inches Television sets and citations.
Addressing the parade, HON. Benjamin Kessie commended the organized labor and its leadership for their “valuable contribution in helping keep the country on its feet even in the face of the recent economic crisis”.
Hon. Kessie also entreated Ghanaians to “trust the government to roll out policies and programs which would stabilize the economy and initiate a rapid recovery to further improve the lives of citizens”.
Hon. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah, Member of Parliament for Takoradi Constituency/Western Regional Minister appealed to the unions to support the government through innovative ideas to help build the country and to see productivity as a responsibility to create and share.
He also assured the trade unions that their ‘Pension Pay’ “will not be touched by the government”.
