Hon. Benjamin Kessie, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) on 7th August, 2020 paid an official visit to the Apinto Divisional Council at Awudua. Hon. Benjamin Kessie has been pursuing an agenda of working together with all stakeholders including Chiefs, Elders and the people of the communities since his appointment into office as the Municipal Chief Executive of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly. The visit afforded him the opportunity to formally introduce himself to the Chiefs of Apinto as major players in the peace building and development process.
He was accompanied by Mr. Frank Ernest Odro, the Municipal Co-ordinating Director (MCD) for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, some Heads of Departments, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency Chairman and other Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The MCE commended the Traditional Leaders for maintaining unity, peace and cooperation in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality and the entire Nation. He stated that His Excellency the President, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo holds the Chieftaincy Institution in high esteem and would continue to appreciate the critical role Chiefs play in National Development.
He appealed to the Chiefs to continue to support the Municipal Assembly and the Government. “If there is peace and unity within the Traditional set-up, it facilitates for smooth implementation of Government’s development projects, programmes and activities within the local and national front”, he added.
Hon. Benjamin Kessie was applauded by the Chiefs for highly recognizing and appreciating their contributions to National Development.
In his remarks, Nana Dr. Adarkwa Bediako III, Gyasehene of the Apinto Divisional Stool cautioned the MCE and all other Politicians against engaging in acts likely to undermine the peace and stability as Ghana goes to the polls on 7th December, 2020. He however, assured the MCE of their maximum support and cooperation to assist him achieve his vision. Nana Dr. Adarkwa Bediako III further appealed to the MCE to help furnish a newly constructed community centre at Awudua with a befitting set of furniture.
Nana Kwabena-Angu II, the overlord of the Apinto Divisional Council expressed appreciation and asked for God’s blessings and protection for the MCE.
Although the Awudua Community falls within the Prestea-Huni-Valley Municipality, Nana Kwabena Angu II also appealed to the MCE to support the construction of Awudua junction to the Awudua town road which is currently ongoing.
