NSS AND DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRAINS NZEMALINE COMMUNITY AND NEARBY COMMUNITIES

The National Service Secretariat on the 14th of February, 2020 collaborated with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development to provide training in the following set of programmes for the people of Nzemaline Community and its environs.

The programmes included skills set such as preparation of :

  • Yoghurt
  • Brown sugar
  • Shower gel
  • Hair & body pomade

Additionally, The Department in the month of March, 12th, 2020 organised another training programme on skills development for Tailors and Hairdressers Association in the Tarkwa area.

These are in line with the Department’s mandate to work to improve the general standard of living of the urban poor and rural disadvantaged.

Explaining some concepts of Community Development, the Head of the Department of the Social Welfare and Community Development, stated that, Community Development involves a process where people are united with governmental authorities to improve economic, social and cultural conditions of communities and contribute fully to National Progress.  

The process begins where communities

  • Become more responsible
  • Organize and plan together
  • Develop health options
  • Reduce ignorance, poverty and suffering
  • Create employment and economic opportunities
  • Achieve social, economic, cultural and environmental goals

He therefore entreated the general public to take advantage of their programmes.
