HON. EBENEZER COBBINA LEADS REFUSE EVACUATION EXERCISE AT TAMSO ESTATE JUNCTION

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah, has led a team to commence a major refuse evacuation exercise at Tamso Estate Junction as part of his renewed commitment to addressing poor sanitation in the municipality.

The exercise, which began today, targets one of the area’s long-standing refuse dumps that has posed significant health and environmental risks to residents. The site, described as a public health hazard, has contributed to pollution and increased the risk of disease outbreaks in the community.

Hon. Cobbinah emphasized that sanitation remains a top priority for his administration, particularly in light of the President’s emphasis on evaluating Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) based on their sanitation performance.

“The poor sanitation situation in some parts of Tarkwa-Nsuaem is unacceptable. This evacuation is only the beginning of a larger effort to restore cleanliness and promote public health,” he stated.

The MCE has appealed for support from mining companies and other key stakeholders in tackling the sanitation challenges across the municipality. He expressed his appreciation to the Municipal Environmental Health Director and the entire Assembly for their support in implementing the exercise.

Hon. Cobbinah also urged residents to cooperate with the Assembly by adopting proper waste disposal practices to ensure the sustainability of the clean-up efforts and prevent future health hazards.

The refuse evacuation is expected to be extended to other affected areas in the coming weeks as part of a broader municipal sanitation improvement strategy.
