A handing over ceremony of Road Maintenance Equipment to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) took place on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Myhaung Barracks in Apremdo, Takoradi. The event was attended by Hon. Kobby Okyere Darko, Regional Minister, traditional leaders (Nananom), and MMDCEs.
Hon. Okyere Darko outlined the benefits of the DRIP project, including:
– Creation of over 8,000 direct jobs
– Stimulation of local economic development
– Reduction of post-harvest losses
– Improvement of general service delivery nationwide
He stressed the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to maximize benefits for the communities.
On behalf of the MMDAs, Hon. Isaac Dasmani, Municipal Chief Executive for Prestea Hunivalley Municipal Assembly, assured the Regional Minister of effective equipment utilization and proper maintenance.
The Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality is arranging transportation of the allocated equipment by next week. Hon. Benjamin Kessie, looking forward to the positive impacts, expressed eagerness to see the program benefit the communities in the municipality.
