The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kessie and the Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, Hon. George Mireku Duker have commissioned a 3-unit classroom block with office and staff common room at Nyanso, a community in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. The project which is estimated at GH¢269,215.15 was funded by the Minerals Development Fund (MDF).
Hon. George Mireku Duker who is serving a second term as Member of Parliament, used the occasion to thank his constituents for re-electing him and the NPP Government in the 2020 general elections. He further reiterated his commitment to hard work that will yield the needed developmental progress of the Municipality. He called on private individuals who may have the capacities to contribute to the development of the area to do so through the assembly and other appropriate structures.
He entreated everybody in the Municipality to continue to adhere to the various protocols against the corona virus pandemic as government has received the vaccines to begin the vaccinations of all citizens. The first phase of the exercise is expected to vaccinate the health workers, the aged (60 years and above), frontline executive, members of parliament, judiciary and staff, frontline security personnel, essential workers and teachers.
Hon. Benjamin Kessie, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Tarkwa- Nsuaem Municipal Assembly indicated that, it was through the Hon. MP’s efforts that funds were sourced from the MDF for the project to be constructed. He admonished the people to take care of the project as it will enhance teaching and learning in the community. He also thanked the people for renewing the mandate of the MP and the NPP Government.
The MCE added that, education has been one of the major priority concerns to the Hon. Member of Parliament in the constituency, and that he will do more for the community since his mandate has been renewed.
Mr. Alex Kweku Duah, the Municipal Director of Education commended the MP and the Assembly for seeing the need to put up the facility to reduce the existing educational infrastructural deficit. He noted, that the Hon. MP has been supportive to the cause of Education in the municipality and was thankful to him for giving a relief to the community.
Nana Essoun Kumah II, the Chief together with the residents of the area, applauded Hon. George Mireku Duker and the Municipal Assembly for the gesture. He assured the MP of their firm support to the Government to ensure effective implementation of the various development policies, programmes and activities in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality and Ghana at large.
