The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has actively participated in the Government of Ghana’s National Sanitation Exercise aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, desilting gutters, and ensuring the free flow of rainwater to reduce flooding and improve public health. The exercise was undertaken across the municipality, with major activities concentrated at four focal areas. The clean-up commenced from Efuanta through Tarkwa Secondary School, continued through Nkamponase Main Station, and concluded at cyanide Junction. Teams worked diligently to desilt choked gutters and clear refuse from public spaces to restore a clean and healthy environment. The exercise witnessed impressive participation from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prisons Service, the National Ambulance Service, Assembly Members, staff of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, and members of the general public, all of whom demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental sanitation. In support of the exercise, the Municipal Health Directorate, under the leadership of Mrs. Wilhelmina Duah directed all health facilities within the municipality to organize clean-up activities at their respective clinics, health centres, hospital premises, and surrounding communities. This initiative complemented the Assembly’s efforts to improve sanitation throughout the municipality. The Municipal Assembly commends all stakeholders, security agencies, health workers, Assembly Members, volunteers, and residents whose dedication contributed to the success of the exercise. Their collective efforts reflect the municipality’s shared commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment. The sanitation campaign continues on Saturday with a municipality-wide clean-up exercise.
