TARKWA-NSUAEM MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY DONATES TO APPIATE EXPLOSION DISASTER VICTIMS

Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kessie on Monday 24th January, 2022 donated relief items to some of the victims of Appiate disaster which occurred on Thursday 20th January, 2022.

Items donated included a cash amount of GH¢ 2,000.00, six bags of rice, three bags of sugar and other assorted items worth GH¢5,407.

The donation was made at the Tarkwa Municipal Government Hospital where the victims are on admission. The Hospital Administrator and Medical Superintendent received the items on behalf of the victims.

Addressing the media, Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Frank Ernest Odro said the assembly was overwhelmed with the unfortunate incident and the items is to assist the victims.

Hon. Benjamin Kessie described the incident as a national disaster, and that the Assembly will continue to extend the needed support to the victims.

He commended the mining companies for their quick response to the emergency situation and further made an appeal to well-meaning individuals, corporate social and other philanthropic organizations to also come to the aid of the victims.

Mr. Mukabbir Amasa Abass, Administrator of the Hospital was grateful to the Municipal Chief Executive and the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly for the kind gesture. He pleaded with the Assembly to the hospital land for future development and also help put up a Trauma Center in response to emergency situations.

Receiving the items, Dr. Frederick Yaw Sarpong, Medical Superintendent at the Municipal Hospital lauded the assembly for their immediate intervention.

Briefing the assembly, Dr. Sarpong disclosed that they received 33 injured persons at their facility but unfortunately one could not survive despite all efforts made by the Medical Officers.
