Cassava remains a key staple crop in Ghana, feeding millions and supporting livelihoods. However, production is threatened by viral diseases such as Cassava Mosaic Virus (CMV) and Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD), which reduce yield and affect crop quality.
To assess the extent of these diseases, the Crop Research Institute (CRI), in collaboration with Agriculture Extension Agents in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, has conducted a data collection exercise at Mile 1.
The survey aims to determine the impact of the viruses on cassava production and guide appropriate interventions to protect farmers’ livelihoods and strengthen food security in the Municipality.
