41ST NATIONAL FARMERS DAY CELEBRATION – 2025

The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, led by Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah (Municipal Chief Executive) and Hon. Issah Salifu Taylor (Member of Parliament), marked the 41st National Farmers’ Day with a colourful ceremony at Tarkwa Banso, celebrated under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”

The event was graced by Nana Ampong Kwasi II, Chief of Bonsawire,  Mr. Peter Kwesi Wilson (Municipal Coordinating Director), Mr. John Essien (Agric Director), Heads of Department and other distinguished guests.

As part of the celebration, 25 outstanding farmers were honoured for their contributions to agriculture in the municipality. The overall best farmer, Mr. Thomas A. Dzanadoh, received an impressive package of prizes sponsored by Goldfields Ghana Limited, including a plasma TV, latex foam mattress, mist blower, full-piece wax print, wheelbarrow, tricycle, and other essential farming items.

In their remarks, dignitaries emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and youth participation. Nana Ampong Kwasi II encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable practices and avoid galamsey to protect the environment. Hon. Issah Salifu Taylor urged young people to take advantage of government initiatives supporting farming and livestock production, while Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah highlighted farming as a viable career with great potential for economic empowerment.

The Municipal Assembly extends heartfelt appreciation to sponsors whose support made the event a success, including Goldfields Ghana Limited, Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem, GMC, Golden Star, Benso Plantation, Ahantaman Rural Bank, Fiaseman Rural Bank, and Amenfiman Rural Bank.

The celebration was a powerful reminder of the dedication and resilience of our farmers, true custodians of Ghana’s food security and sustainable future.
