1ST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE 9TH ASSEMBLY

The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly held its 1st Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the 9th Assembly on September 3, 2025, at the Assembly Hall in Ahwetieso. The meeting saw the swearing-in of a new Assembly Member, Nana Kwesi Ampong II, who pledged to support the Assembly’s mission. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah, delivered his first sessional address, highlighting key achievements and ongoing initiatives across various sectors.

He commended the efforts of the Municipal Security Council and traditional leaders in maintaining peace, while urging continued vigilance against illegal mining and chieftaincy conflicts. He further acknowledged the donation of 10 skip waste containers by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation and announced plans to construct a Refuse Bay at Kwamenakrom. In the health sector, construction of new facilities at Amantin and Kenyanko is underway, alongside the distribution of medical equipment to existing centers.

The MCE also noted that over 3,500 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates received educational support, while vulnerable families benefited from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program. Infrastructure development remains a priority, with ongoing projects including roads, boreholes, classroom blocks, health centers, and police posts. He also emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to agricultural development, citing upcoming initiatives such as warehouses, processing centers, and demonstration farms aimed at reducing post-harvest losses.

The Assembly unanimously adopted the MCE’s address as a working document and approved the Revised 2025 Composite Budget.

Hon. Cobbinah reaffirmed his dedication to the President’s vision for local development and called on all stakeholders to unite in building a thriving, self-reliant Municipality.
