The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly successfully held its Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, 20th December 2023 at the Municipal Assembly Conference Room- Ahwetieso.
The occasion was chaired by Mr. Daniel Ofosu-Adjei, the Western Regional Budget Analyst. Participants included Chiefs and Elders from the municipality, Hon. Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, representatives from the Mining Companies, zonal Council Members, Security Personnel, Education Workers, Health Workers, and Staff of the Municipal Assembly, the Press and members of the general public.
In a speech delivered by Hon. Benjamin Kessie, Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, he was thankful to all stakeholders, especially Friends of the Nation, for standing with the Assembly throughout the year. He further expressed satisfaction with the strong collaboration among the Assembly, Traditional Authorities, Civil Society Organisations, Corporate bodies and associations. He however reiterated the need to continue exhibiting the sense of unity and togetherness for the betterment of the Assembly and the municipality as a whole.
A representative from Friends of the Nation, Nana Efua took the opportunity to speak on the core values of OGP. She stated that the purpose of the OGP is to ensure transparency participation, inclusion and accountability to empower the citizens for improved well-being and development.
The Occasion also saw to the presentations of the 2024 Composite Budget and the 2024 Action Plan by the Municipal Budget Unit and the Municipal Development Planning Unit respectively.
The presentations on the 2024 Composite Budget were done by Senior Budget Analyst, Miss Gifty Andoh. Her presentation shed light on the budgeting process, planned projects and programmes for 2024, funds available to the Assembly and the appropriation of such funds.
The presentation of the 2024 Action Plan was done by Senior Development Planning Officer, Mr. Theophilus Tamatey-Agbo. In his presentation, he revealed the status of various on-going projects including the construction of KG block with ancillary facilities, landscaping and tree planting at Israel, construction of 6-unit classroom with ancillary facilities, landscaping and tree planting at Bogrekrom, construction of male/female wards and laboratory at Benso Health Centre and construction of KG block with ancillary facilities, landscaping and tree planting at Boama.
Participants were given the chance to also contribute to the programme by asking questions, giving suggestions and inputs.
The chairperson for the occasion, Mr. Daniel Ofosu-Adjei, commended the Assembly for an effective and successful programme.
