Hon. Benjamin Kessie, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive, began his quarterly community visits to some communities in the Municipality on Tuesday, 16th August 2022.
The visits form part of the MCE’s open doors policy to engage with the citizens as key stakeholders in the development process.
The Presiding Member of the Municipal Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Gado, Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Frank Ernest Odro, and some Heads of Departments were part of the Chief Executive’s team visiting the communities.
The Chiefs and people of Mahamo and Yayaho communities were the first to be engaged by the MCE and his team.
Addressing the community and the media, the Presiding Member explained the concept of the decentralization policy as per the Local Governance Act 2016. Hon. Emmanuel Gado urged the communities to seek redress to challenges confronting their areas through the Assembly members, the Chiefs, and Unit Committees to the Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly.
He further indicated the composition and role of the Public Relation and Complaints Committee (PRCC) of the Assembly which is to mediate and resolve conflicts and issues relating to the assembly and its sub-structures. He discouraged members from seeking solutions to their issues through the media instead of using the PRCC.
Nana Kwabena Gyan II, Chief of Mahamo and Chairman of the Tarkwa Divisional Sub-Chiefs, thanked the MCE and his team and requested support to enable the Mahamo community to complete the self-help-initiated Maternity Ward project under construction.
Hon. Kessie, impressed by the community’s efforts, pledged 100 bags of cement to be donated by the assembly in support of the project. He added, that the assembly will continue to channel necessary efforts at tackling the challenges presented before him.
The visit which is part of the 2nd quarter activities of the MCE is expected to cover many communities across the Municipality.
