INDIA HIGH COMMISSIONER TO GHANA VISIT TARKWA-NSUAEM MUNICIPALITY

The India High Commissioner to Ghana, H. E Sugandh Rajaram has paid an official visit to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality on Tuesday, 2nd February, 2022.

The visit afforded him the opportunity to interact with Management Members and the Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly, as well as Members of the Municipal Security Committee.

Mr. Sugandh Rajaram said Ghana and the India Government have a strong bilateral corporation and that, his visit will help enhance and build a more sustainable relationship.

The High Commissioner added that, his visit was also an opportunity to come to the ground and explore for possible potential areas of investment that will yield mutual benefits for the two countries.

He revealed that, India is running a lot of capacity building programmes, an initiative which is benefiting Ghana and Africa as a whole.

He further indicated that, apart from investing in the mineral mining industry, India is ever ready to collaborate with the Municipal Assembly to invest in other areas such as waste and sanitation management, agriculture, education, ICT, security, etc.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kessie, in his response, expressed appreciation to the High Commissioner for his visit. He said, the Municipality is predominantly a mining community and a fertile ground where there is less crime and absolute peace for investment. He identified the poor road network as the only challenge facing the Municipality and call for collaborations between both countries in the sector.

Hon. Benjamin Kessie also added, that so many investment opportunities exist in the Municipality across every sector of the local economy, and that any investor ready to invest is welcomed.

He emphasized, that the Assembly will as soon as possible, submit proposals on the issues discussed to his outfit for considerations.

Mr. Sugandh Rajaram will also call on the Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.
